About

The short answer

A data project that counts what owners report about their dishwashers. We don't test or rate products, and we don't take payment to change any count.

Appliance Problems is a data project. We collect what owners write about their dishwashers, remove duplicate reviews, and count which problems they report, when they start, which parts fail and what fixed them.

Why it exists

Star ratings hide the thing you most want to know: what tends to go wrong, and when. A high average can hide a part that tends to fail after the first year. Reading thousands of reviews yourself isn't realistic, so we do it and count. So far that's 6,802 owner reviews collected and 6,427 read.

What this site is

How the counts are made

How we count covers where reviews come from, how duplicates and promotional reviews are handled, how each review is read, and the minimum numbers before anything is published.

How the site makes money

It doesn't yet: there are no ads, affiliate links or sponsors. If that changes, this section will say how, and ads or affiliate links will be labeled where they appear. They'll never change a count.

Corrections

If a number looks wrong, tell us. We check every report and fix confirmed mistakes in the next data update. Each page shows the date it last changed.

Accessibility

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Every page works with a keyboard and a screen reader, in light and dark mode, and every chart is also written out as numbers. Every page type has passed automated accessibility checks (axe) in both modes. If something doesn't work for you, please tell us.
